Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsin Al-Turki opened the permanent “Prophet of Mercy” Exhibition and the “Dialogue: The Future of All” conference organized by the Islamic Cultural Centre in London in cooperation with the WML-affiliated Global Commission for Introducing the Messenger (PBUH).
Bring happiness to humanity
The exhibition encompasses a large quantity of posters illustrating the life of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), his character, concern for human rights, and a series of quotes about him from prominent Western thinkers throughout the ages.
Dr. Al-Turki expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the exhibition, conference, and all events that “bring happiness to humanity.” He spoke about his visit to Denmark just before arriving at London and his meeting with the University of Copenhagen management, where he concentrated on the importance of understanding amongst monotheistic religions.
He explained that due to the attempt of dissociating life and religion, many domestic and social issues arose, in addition to exploiting religion to stir up hatred and sectarianism amongst people.
Dr. Al-Turki went on to assert that the goals of monotheistic religions are not contradictory; their main goal is to bring happiness to humanity, ensuring that the MWL displayed great interest in King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud’s initiative of inter-faith dialogues through several conferences in Mekkah, Spain, Switzerland, and Austria.
The real image
Khaled Al-Duwaisan, Kuwait Ambassador to the UK described the conference and exhibition as an important initiative, stating that the Islamic Cultural Centre in London is taking on a prominent and crucial role in displaying the real Islam, pointing out that the center’s positive role is vouched for by the local British society and a number of British officials.
He insured that the inter-faith dialogues will be capable of finding a way to bring about understanding and finding a common ground between the religions.
Dr. Adel Alshiddi, Secretary General of The Global Commission for Introducing the Messenger (PBUH) stated that London was chosen to host the “Prophet of Mercy” exhibition because it is the heart of Europe and a great example of religious and cultural coexistence. He added that London was also chosen as a means to form connections with the West, asserting that the exhibition illustrates the truth about Islam and the real image of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), his character and values.
Coexistence
Dr. Ahmad Al-Dubayan, Director General of the Islamic Cultural Centre in London stated that the exhibition displays the importance of dialogue in light of the obstacles threatening coexistence today.
He stated that the goal of the exhibition is to introduce Islam to non-Muslims, stating that the exhibition will continue until the Olympic Games held in London in 2012, giving sufficient time for thousands to visit the exhibition and learn about the Prophet of mercy and seal of the prophets (PBUH).
The opening was attended by the Saudi ambassador to the United Kingdom Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf bin Abdulaziz, Counselors at the Saudi Embassy in Britain Abdulrahman Al-Suhaibani and Abdulrahman Al-Anzi, and a number of Gulf and Arab embassy representatives and officials.
