 The third "Hadith and Sirah Research Awards" winners were presented with their awards at an opening ceremony held at the Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall on Sunday April 11, 2010 in a ceremony attended by the President of Turkish Religious Affairs Directorate Professor Ali Bardakoglu, the Turkish Ambassador to Vatican, Professor Kenan Gursoy and many other disgtinguished guests.
The competition, similar to the previous years, received a great deal of attention. Academic thesis entries in two categories -- masters and doctoral - were evaulated by experts in their respective fields who formed the jury such as Professor Bunyamin Erol, Professor Ibrahim Hatipoglu, Professor Mehmet Ali Kapar, Professor Mustafa Kara, Professor Recep Senturk and Professor Ismail Yigit. Fatma Kizil, with her thesis titled ""Oryantalistlerin Hadislerin Menşeini Tespite Yönelik Yöntemleri" (Orientalist methods in determining the origin of hadith), who penned her work under the guidance of Professor Ibrahim Hatipoglu and whose doctoral studies are continuing, was granted an award in the field of masters thesis. In the field of doctoral thesis, Bekir Kuzudisli, who penned his thesis titled, "Hadis Rivayetinde Aile İsnadları" (The familial chain in hadith narration) under the guidance of Assistant Professor Mustafa Karatas and currently works as an instructor at Istanbul University's Faculty of Divinity, was granted an award. Fatma Kizil's award was presented to her by her thesis advisor Professor Ibrahim Hatiboglu while Bekir Kuzudisli received his award from Professor Hayrettin Karaman. |
