A new page had opened after the Hijrah of the Prophet and his companions to Medina. Islam, which was going to change the course of the history, had found a new shelter andhomeland for itself. Hijrah gave its name to the beginning of the Islamic Calendar and the developments related to the calendar occurred generally after this date.

Hadith of The Day

عن النبي صَلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وسَلَّم قال‏"‏ لَيْسَ الْوَاصِلُ بِالْمُكَافِئِ، وَلَكِنِ الْوَاصِلُ الَّذِي إِذَا قَطَعَتْ رَحِمُهُ وَصَلَهَا ‏"

The Prophet said, "Al-wasil [a considerate, inseperable friend] is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives, but al-wasil is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who had severed the bond of kinship with him." (Bukhari, Good Manners and Form (Al-Adab), 15)
